Saltz Mongeluzzi Doubles Class Action Practice, Adding 3 Boni Zack & Snyder Partners
“Working with Josh and Ben and John over the last 20 years, it just felt right, that this was going to be the right move at the right time for us,” said one of the co-chairs of the firm’s class action group.
Saltz Mongeluzzi Bendesky has more than doubled its national class action practice with the addition of three former Boni, Zack & Snyder partners.
The three attorneys, Joshua Snyder, John E. Sindoni and Benjamin J. Eichel, assumed their roles on Thursday, joining the class action group co-chairs and founders Patrick Howard and Simon B. Paris. Snyder told The Legal that “the stars were aligned with what was happening with our respective practices, and it was just the ideal timing to combine forces.”
“I’ve had the good fortune to work with Pat and Simon for many, many years. We’ve collaborated on a variety of cases, and it’s always been tremendous working with them,” Snyder said. As to why the three attorneys were the right fit, Howard pointed to their years of working together and seeing them handle complex and tedious work firsthand, as well as their ability to get along and shared desire to achieve what is best for their clients.
Howard told The Legal that the group has collaborated and co-led cases together since 2009. The attorneys currently serve together as court-appointed interim co-lead counsel in litigation over alleged anti-competitive conduct in the store-brand infant formula market, according to the firm’s press release.
“Working with Josh and Ben and John over the last 20 years, it just felt right, that this was going to be the right move at the right time for us,” Howard said, sharing that the group is looking to boost the firm’s presence in its nondominant area of law long-term.
Howard said that the group is looking to take on more significant leadership roles in national cases, noting that the expansion will enable them to participate in and file more cases. He shared that Snyder, Sindoni and Eichel have brought their own work to the firm and that the group is looking to explore future cases to collaborate on.
“Obviously the firm is personal injury driven, but Simon and I have been doing these sorts of cases now for almost 20 years here, and we’ve been able to develop our skill set, and watching John and Josh and Ben work collaboratively with us, we thought that if we combine together, we could make a significant difference, not only in our cases, but for our clients,” Howard said.
Howard credited the firm’s founding partners, Robert J. Mongeluzzi and Larry Bendesky, for supporting the group and encouraging them “to go bigger and bolder.”
“Patrick Howard and Simon Paris, co-chairs and founders of our stellar class action group, have exceeded all expectations since they joined the firm in 2007,” Mongeluzzi and Bendesky said in a firm press release. “And we could not be more enthusiastic about this significant, timely expansion with the addition of Josh, John and Ben from the outstanding firm of Boni, Zack & Snyder. The fact they’ve successfully worked together with Pat and Simon in leadership roles, on high profile, high impact national cases over the years, makes this an incredibly smooth and seamless transition to the benefit of our clients, be they consumers, businesses, or government entities seeking justice in state or federal courts. Their addition does not just add bandwidth to the class action practice, but to the entire firm.”
The three attorneys’ jump to the Philadelphia personal injury powerhouse leaves partner Michael J. Boni at the helm of Boni Zack. In an emailed statement, Boni shared his plans moving forward.
“I have decided to reduce my caseload, go into semi-retirement as Boni Law Firm LLC, and ultimately retire,” Boni said. “I wish my former colleagues the best of luck at their new firm.”
