John L. Lang focuses his practice on construction site accidents and complex product malfunctions. He represents catastrophically injured individuals and their families.

Prior to joining SMB, John practiced at a large regional defense firm where he defended construction accident cases, catastrophic motor vehicle collisions, and product defect cases. He represented clients in mediations, arbitrations, and at trial. John gained extensive courtroom experience defending insurance companies and their clients. John’s prior trial experience allows him and his clients to anticipate how insurance companies defend catastrophic injury cases.

John began his career representing victims while in law school. As a member of Drexel’s Appellate Litigation Clinic, John argued before the Pennsylvania Superior Court on behalf of clients whose rights had been infringed or who had been wrongfully convicted. Also at Drexel, where he graduated cum laude, John served as the Executive Research and Production Editor of Drexel’s Law Review. His work is published in Volume XI of the Drexel Law Review.

As a trial advocacy competitor in law school, John participated in Emory University’s Civil Rights and Liberties Moot Court Competition and the John E. Gibbons Criminal Procedure Moot Court Competition. John was a finalist at the John E. Gibbons Criminal Procedure Moot Court Competition, where he won second place brief. John also won best brief in Drexel’s moot court competition.

John earned his undergraduate degree from Lafayette College, where he was a four-year Division I varsity letter winner on Lafayette’s football team. John is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He is a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association as well as the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association.
