Larry Bendesky handled hundreds catastrophic injury and accident cases resulting in verdicts or settlements that exceeded $1 million, and multiple cases over $10 million, including a $101 million settlement for the collapse of the Tropicana Hotel’s parking garage in Atlantic City. At the time, the Tropicana case was the largest settlement of a construction case in U.S. history.

He has been named a Top 100 Superlawyer for many consecutive years and served as President of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association in 2017 and 2018.

If you have a potential claim, you’re meeting with me personally—I don’t have some preliminary case screening procedure that makes you jump through hoops to speak to a lawyer. All of my clients have my cell phone number.

Larry’s big cases have focused primarily on construction accidents and products liability claims, but his experience spans a wide range of incidents, from building collapses, to workplace accidents, to industrial equipment failures and their defective design. Catastrophic accident cases are complicated, data intensive, and involve tens of thousands of documents and dozens of fact and expert witnesses. Over his more than 30-year legal career helping the victims of accidents, Larry has brought his relentless, detail-oriented approach to thousands of claims, including those involving:

  • The design, maintenance and operation of elevators, escalators, motor vehicles, motorcycles, power tools, recreational products, and a wide array of equipment used in industry and manufacturing.
  • Construction companies, architects and engineers for inadequate protection, improper scaffolding, electrical hazards, unsafe demolition, and improper design and construction leading to collapses.

Larry joined the Firm as its sixth lawyer and helped build SMBB into the plaintiff-side powerhouse that it is. He appreciates how the Firm’s financial resources make this complex litigation possible.

We have one shot to make a difference in our clients’ lives and the Firm has a unique ability to get results for accident victims. We can hire the best experts—doctors, economists, vocational consultants—and take on the big corporations that knew they were being negligent and careless.

From his time handling cases as a clerk for a Pennsylvania Superior Court judge when he was newly graduated from law school, Larry was drawn to the uphill struggle individuals face when they do battle with big companies and their large law firms. His desire to fight for the underdog is just as strong today.

My clients’ issues are very real—they’re not abstract. They’ve been seriously injured and can’t work. They’re going to physical and occupational therapy sessions. In many cases, they need to modify their house and get fitted for prosthetics. And at the same time, they’re struggling to pay the bills and can’t imagine how they’ll ever be able to afford to send their kids to college.

Larry not only fights to get maximum compensation for his injured clients, but also feels an obligation to help those who cannot afford a lawyer for their legal problems. He is active on the Board of Directors of Philadelphia Community Legal Services and headed up its fundraising efforts in 2017.
