Olivia Szumski is a passionate trial attorney dedicated to representing individuals and their families who have suffered catastrophic injuries. She primarily advocates for victims of mass disasters, construction and workplace accidents, propane and natural gas explosions, electrical incidents, and injuries caused by defective or malfunctioning products.
Before joining Saltz Mongeluzzi Bendesky as an associate, Olivia honed her skills at prominent defense firms, where she represented insurance companies and their clients. This background gives her invaluable insight into the strategies of insurers, enabling her to better serve her clients.
Practice Areas
Olivia’s journey began in Port Richmond, Philadelphia, where she was born into a family of Union laborers. Inspired by her family’s values, she developed a deep commitment to advocating for injured workers and their families. She excelled academically, graduating with honors from La Salle University in 2019 and later attending Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law. During her time in law school, Olivia spent two semesters representing survivors of family violence in protection from abuse and custody cases in Philadelphia Family Court. She also served as President of the Moot Court Board and graduated with honors in 2022, receiving recognition for the best performance in Constitutional Law, Appellate Advocacy, and Litigation Practice Skills. Olivia was inducted into the Order of the Barristers for her exceptional oral advocacy and brief writing skills and was honored with several awards, including the Cozen O’Connor Award for Exemplary Moot Court Performance, Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project Outstanding Student Performance, and American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Eric D. Turner Award. Olivia remains actively engaged at Drexel as a coach for the Moot Court Board, offering personalized coaching and mentorship to law students as they prepare for moot court competitions.
Outside of her work, Olivia is dedicated to giving back to her Philadelphia community. She also enjoys attending concerts and cheering on the city’s sports teams.
