Fire Causes Overpass Collapse and Closes Part of I-95 in Philadelphia

A portion of I-95 North in Philadelphia has collapsed this Sunday morning, June 11, 2023.  Multiple news outlets have reported that the cause of the collapse was a tanker truck fire under the section of I-95 near Cottman and Academy Avenues.  Police have asked people to remain away from the area as the fire has caused the explosion of manhole covers in the area.

At this early stage, there is no conclusive information as to what caused the tanker truck fire, what the tanker truck was carrying at the time nor information as to how this event led to the collapse of an entire section of I-95.

Further, there is no information related to injuries, or extent, of any injuries that may have occurred to those in the area.  However, in major events such as the tanker truck fire and collapse of a portion of I-95, when there are severe or catastrophic injuries, it is important to seek skilled and knowledgeable legal representation.
