Multiple-house explosion in Pittsburgh, 3 homes destroyed, 4 dead, 1 accounted for

A massive explosion killed four people and destroyed three homes in Plum, Pennsylvania on Saturday.  A fifth person is still unaccounted for.

Saturday was not the first time Holiday Park in Plum Borough suffered a home explosion. Just last year, in April, a home on Hialeah Drive was destroyed and in 2008, less than a half-mile away, another home exploded on Mardi Gras Drive.

Representatives of Peoples, the natural gas company, and the state Public Utilities Commission were at the scene of the most recent explosion. Gas and electric were shut off in the neighborhood while the Allegheny Fire Marshall investigated.
