3 Rushed to Hospital, 2 Homes Completely Collapse After Apparent Gas Explosion in Port Richmond

Just before 3am this morning, two homes were completely leveled in a gas explosion in Port Richmond, Philadelphia.

3 residents were rushed to the hospital and others were able to pull themselves out of the rubble. Emergency crews immediately responded and determined that there were “multiple gas leaks in the area,” and that residents had smelled gas. Fire officials and Philadelphia’s Department of Licensing & Inspection are continuing to investigate the cause of the leaks and explosion.

SMB has recovered more money for victims of gas explosions than any firm in Pennsylvania, including $160M+ for victims of a propane-linked explosion, which included $70M for a burn-injured victim of a gas explosion. SMB has also handled dozens of high-profile gas explosion disasters in and around Philadelphia, including representing the victims of the Pottstown Gas Explosion and the 2019 South Philadelphia Gas Explosion.
