Private Funeral go Be Held for Man Killed in NY Crane Collapse

Family Asks Attorney Robert Mongeluzzi’s Firm to Determine Responsibility and Accountability

Philadelphia, PA -(April 5, 2012) – There will be a private funeral for Michael Simermeyer, 30, of Burlington City, NJ, the construction worker killed in Tuesday night’s collapse of a 170-foot tower construction crane at an MTA site in Manhattan. No funeral details are being released at this time.

Michael’s family has asked attorneys Robert J. Mongeluzzi and David L. Kwass, and their Philadelphia-based law firm of Saltz, Mongeluzzi & Bendesky PC, widely regarded for its experience in representing victims of catastrophic construction site accidents, to seek justice on behalf of their son. Several of Michael’s co-workers were injured in the crane collapse that occurred about 7:30 p.m. between 33rd and 34th Streets on the east side of 11th Avenue. Mr. Mongeluzzi was co-counsel for the plaintiffs in the Atlantic City Tropicana Hotel & Casino garage collapse that claimed the lives of four construction workers during construction in 2003.

Michael’s family is requesting that all media inquiries be directed to their attorneys. The attorneys have provided notice of their representation to all appropriate parties, including the MTA, OSHA, and the owner of the crane.
