Fishtown Pizza Shop, Key Pizza, Collapses

A building housing a local pizza shop collapsed early Wednesday morning in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia.

Initial reports fortunately indicate that no one was injured as a result of the sudden collapse. The adjoining property had recently been demolished and it appears that the demolition may have played a role in today’s collapse. Had the pizza shop been open when this collapse occurred, this near tragedy could have devastated a local community.

Saltz Mongeluzzi Bendesky P.C. is among the top law firms in the country involved in building collapse litigation. SMB attorneys regularly represent catastrophically injured individuals and their families who have been victims of unforeseen building collapses. SMB has successfully handled cases on behalf of victims of the Miami Surfside condominium collapse, the Philadelphia Salvation Army building collapse, the Atlantic City Tropicana garage collapse, and more. SMB attorneys believe that those responsible for the construction and safety of buildings are held accountable for following the rules and meeting the required industry standards. All too often, appropriate safety measures are not taken when it comes to both building and demolishing buildings. Situations like what occurred in Fishtown this morning are entirely preventable and the attorneys at SMB will continue to fight to make sure that events like this do not happen again.
