Coral Gables, Florida Scaffolding Failure Results in Window Washer’s Fatal Fall

A window washer fell to his death in Coral Gables Florida at approximately 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, after the exterior scaffolding system from which he worked failed.

Miami-Dade Police immediately responded to the nine-story Giralda Place Condominium Building and began investigating the cause of the scaffold’s failure.

SMB is currently handling a similar incident that occurred at the L’Excellence Condominium Building on Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. In March of 2017, a worker was catastrophically injured when the exterious scaffolding system from which he worked failed. In that case, one of the two-wire ropes that suspended the scaffolding broke, causing one side of the scaffolding to fall to the ground below. Trial in that matter is expected in Miami in 2023.

The attorneys at Saltz Mongeluzzi Bendesky are standing by and available for comment as the situation develops.

SMB has extensive experience successfully representing construction workers who have been catastrophically injured or killed in scaffolding accidents. Our attorneys have handled dozens of scaffolding accidents in several states, given our national reputation for construction and workplace accident litigation.
