Parking Garage Under Construction Collapses in Philadelphia

Published reports indicate that one person is dead and two others are unaccounted for.

A serious construction accident occurred on April 8, 2026, in Philadelphia’s Grays Ferry neighborhood when a multi-story parking garage under construction partially collapsed. The incident took place near 30th Street and Grays Ferry Avenue, prompting a large emergency response from firefighters, police, and rescue crews.

Published reports indicate that one person has been killed and that two others are unaccounted for.

Preliminary reports indicate the collapse may have originated in a stairwell section of the structure, though the exact cause remains under investigation. City officials and safety inspectors continue to examine the site to determine what led to the structural failure.
