Three Killed After Amtrak Train Hits Pickup Truck in New York

Three people were killed Friday evening after an Amtrak passenger train struck their vehicle in North Tonawanda, New York.

There were no injuries reported by passengers or crew members aboard the train.  The Amtrak train was traveling northbound from New York City to Niagara Falls when it hit the Dodge truck.  It remains unclear why the truck was obstructing the track, though local media has reported it may have become trapped between railroad gates at a rail crossing.

Saltz Mongeluzzi Bendesky is one of the Nation’s leading injury firms in train-related litigation and has recovered millions of dollars in compensation for victims of these accidents, including crashes and derailments.  The firm represented victims from the 2015 Philadelphia Amtrak derailment and the 2021 Montana Amtrak derailment resulting in a $265 million settlement and an $81.5 million settlement.
