$5 Million Settlement in Jury Award For Contractor Who Sustained Catastrophic Injuries When A Wall Under Demolition Collapsed

Jeffrey Goodman and Samuel Dordick represented a contractor who sustained catastrophic injuries when a wall under demolition collapsed, knocking over the scissor lift the contractor was in and throwing him to the ground twenty feet below.

Saltz Mongeluzzi Bendesky filed claims against the property owner and his company as well as product liability claims against the manufacturer of the scissor lift. After a fiercely contested trial on both liability and damages, on October 4, 2023, the jury returned a verdict in the amount of $4.5 million. Including statutory delay damages, the total verdict amounted to just over $5 million.
