I have always been proud to tell people I am registered nurse. I have always been proud to tell people that I work at Atlantic City Medical Center. However, I have never been more proud than I am after experiencing the events that unfolded after the garage collapse at the Tropicana Casino and Resort.
Watching every staff member pitch in and work as a team was an awesome experience. The true professionalism and critical skills of our staff were apparent as all titles disappeared and each team member was valued.
It didn’t matter that a physical therapist who usually helps restore strength provided strength for a family member, or that a physician who usually delivers babies tended to a wound. We are in a remarkable business of caring for people. There was not a department in the hospital that did not contribute in some way to the care of the injured and their families.
My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families, and my admiration and appreciation are with the staff of Atlantic City Medical Center
