Timeline of a Personal Injury Case

One of the most common questions a personal injury lawyer receives is: “How long does this usually take?”  The simple answer is: each case is different and so is the timeline. Although it is true that the majority of personal injury cases settle, this does not mean they settle quickly.

Depending on the type of case, personal injuries cases can be complex and very involved. It is not as simple as, I got injured so compensate me for my injuries, etc. Instead these cases involve proving the severity of the injuries that come with any accident, the liability of the one who has caused your injury, building up the case to put you in a position to receive the maximum compensation you are entitled to and so on. This is all a very detailed and a long process, but is in the best interest of your needs.

Additionally, when trying to negotiate or settle with the defendant’s insurance company, it is their policy to offer as minimal as possible.  It is our job, as personal injury attorneys, to build up your case and demonstrate their offer is unreasonable.  Most insurance companies will fight every claim that comes across to them despite what you may think is a strong case.  It is our duty to not cave to them, but instead to demonstrate each of our client’s case value and that we are prepared to fight this.

As personal injury attorneys, we understand that our clients are rightfully upset and distraught about the unfortunate circumstances they find themselves in. However, it is up to us to get you not only the maximum recovery but the best result for your individual case and sometimes that is a process that needs to be endured.
