Simon Bahne Paris joined Saltz, Mongeluzzi, Barrett & Bendesky, P.C.'s Class Action Practice Group in 2007. Mr. Paris' dedication to finding novel ways of identifying and challenging improper business practices has earned him the respect of his peers nationwide.
Mr. Paris' practice focuses on the litigation of complex class actions with specializations in antitrust and consumer protection matters. His recent successes include In re OSB Antitrust Litigation (E.D. Pa.) where was first to uncover a conspiracy to fix prices amongst the largest producers of oriented strand board in the United States, which resulted in settlements of over $120 million. Mr. Paris also served as class counsel in In re Mercedes-Benz Antitrust Litigation (D. NJ.) (over $17 million settlement); In re Linerboard Antitrust Litigation (E.D. Pa.) ($202.5 million settlement); In re Abbott Laboratories Derivative Litigation (N.D. III.) (settlement valued at $84 million); Blake v. United Auto Group Inc. (N.J. Super.) (100% recovery to class members); Francis v. Holman Enterprises, Ltd. (N.J. Super.) (100% recover to class members); Kaplan v. WASCO (N.J. Super.) ($1.25 million partial settlement); Klein v. DeSimone (N.J. Super.) (100% recover to class members); and In re VeriSign Securities Litigation (N.D. Cal.) (settlement of approximately $78 million).
Currently, Mr. Paris serves an integral role in the prosecution of the following antitrust cases: In re Steel Antitrust Litigation, Civ. Action No. 08-5214 (N.D. III.)); In re Aftermarket Filters Antitrust Litig., MDL Docket No. 1957 (N.D. III.); In re Urethane Antitrust Litig., MDL Docket No. 1616 (D. Kan.); and In re Flat Glass Antitrust Litig. (II), MDL Docket No. 1942 (W.D. Pa), among others. Mr. Paris is also currently leading the following consumer protection class actions: Martinelli v. Petland, Inc., era/. Civ. Action No. 09-529 (D. AZ); McGarvey v. Penske Automotive Group, Inc., etal. Civ. Action No. 08-5610 (D. N.J.); and Smith v. Vanguard Dealer Services, LLC, etal. Civ. Action No. 09-31 (D. N.J.), among others.
Mr. Paris was previously an Assistant State Attorney for the State of Florida, where he was lead trial counsel in over fifty jury trials. A 1993 graduate of Rutgers University, Mr. Paris received his law degree from Widener University School of Law in 1996. He has been admitted to practice in the courts of New Jersey, Florida, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the District of New Jersey.
