Michael F. Barrett, the Firm's Managing Shareholder, combines his lifelong interests in trial law and medicine to champion the cause of medical
malpractice victims and to raise the level of care provided by healthcare providers.
Mr. Barrett also concentrates his practice in the broad spectrum of civil litigation — including civil
rights — and other areas of professional negligence. He is a 1981 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and a 1984 graduate of the Villanova University School of Law. His Court admissions include:

Long active in professional practice associations, he frequently participates as a lecturer and presenter at various seminars. He is a Past President of the Philadelphia Trail Lawyers Association. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation. He also has served on the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, Board of Governors, is a former Co-Chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Medico-Legal Committee, and formerly served as Chairman of a Hearing Committee of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. He is the Chair of the Brennan Award Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association for 2010 and Trustee of the Committee for A Better Tomorrow — the Political Action Committee of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association.
Mr. Barrett is also a member of the American Association for Justice. He is an appointed Judge Pro Tempore of the Court of Common Please of Philadelphia County and has been a Group Captain and Master of the Villanova University School of Law Inns of Court.
Mr. Barrett has been selected as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer for 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. In 2008, 2009 and 2010 he was selected as one of the Top 100 attorneys in Pennsylvania by his peers. He also has received an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, its highest ranking, is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and is a Certified Civil Trial Advocate of the National Board of Trial Advocates. Mr Barrett is the 2006 recipient of the President's Award from the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association.
Besides his involvement in the law and the legal community, Mr. Barrett is active in a number of charitable organizations. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Louis D. Brandeis Law Society Foundation. He is former legal counsel to Har Zion Temple of Penn Valley, PA where he currently serves on the Board of Trustees.
