Statement of Counsel for The Victims Regarding NTSB Safety Recommendations and Ride The Ducks International

The families of victims Dora Schwendtner and Szabolcs Prem are gratified the NTSB has issued further findings criticizing Ride the Ducks for its numerous safety failures and requiring K-Sea to ensure its employees understand critical emergency procedures. The NTSB leadership’s recommendations just released in Safety Recommendation letters from Chairman Deborah A.P. Hersman to Ride the Ducks President Chris Herschend and K-Sea President Timothy Casey (www.ntsb.gov/recs/letters/letters.htm) confirm both companies played a key role in this preventable tragedy. The families are hopeful that Ride the Ducks and K-Sea will finally admit their role in the deaths of their children and take the NTSB’s findings seriously, so no other family will have to experience the loss of a loved one.
