Robert J. Mongeluzzi, Esq. Named Co-Counsel to Ronai & Ronai, LLP, in Fatal Tourist Boat-Barge Delaware River Collision

PHILADELPHIA, PA (July 16, 2010) – Robert J. Mongeluzzi, Esq., has been selected by New York-based plaintiff’s firm Ronai & Ronai, LLP to serve as co-counsel representing the two young Hungarian victims of the fatal July 7 collision between the Ride the Ducks tourist boat and a sludge barge on the Delaware River, according to a joint announcement by Saltz, Mongeluzzi & Bendesky, P.C., and attorneys Peter Ronai, Esq. and Holly Ostrov Ronai, Esq., partners in their firm.

Prior to departing for Hungary today, Mr. Mongeluzzi will be available for a media briefing at 10 a.m. today, Friday, in his offices at 1650 Market St., 52nd floor.

Mongeluzzi, following a meeting with Ostrov Ronai. yesterday, said, “I am honored to be working alongside my New York colleagues Peter and Holly on behalf of the families of Dora Schwendtner and Szabolcs Prem. Peter, who has met with the grieving families in Hungary, has assured them we will be diligent in our search for the truth and do whatever is necessary in our quest for justice.”

Peter Ronai, Esq., said the entire town of Mosonmagyarova is in mourning for its two student-residents killed in the catastrophe. “No one can understand how such a tragedy could occur, especially in America, in the birthplace of the nation. We can’t bring back these children of Hungary, but we can show the Hungarian people and the world what happened, how it happened, and make sure it never happens again.” Ronai is of Hungarian descent and his firm is well known in the Hungarian-American community. It recently obtained a settlement of more than $5 million for an undocumented Hungarian immigrant who was seriously injured in a New York construction accident.

Mongeluzzi, who has successful represented victims in numerous disasters, including the fatal Delaware River Pier 34 collapse and the fatal collapse of the Tropicana Casino garage, said the plaintiff team’s discovery process is already underway and they have been in contact with local, state and federal investigating agencies. He was one of the first subject-matter experts to publicly state that there had been a horrific failure to properly execute and monitor the barge-tug operations on the Delaware River.
