PARENTS TO DISCUSS HOW A LOCAL UNIVERSITY FRATERNITY'S FAILURE TO PROTECT THEIR SON FROM HARM ALMOST COST HIM HIS LIFE

Press conference Thursday at Saltz, Mongeluzzi, Barrett & Bendesky

(Philadelphia, PA - July 18, 2017) A news conference will be held Thursday morning at which the parents of a Philadelphia area university student will discuss, for the first time, how their son - after being seriously injured in a fight - almost died because of the failure of his Fraternity and its brothers to call 911. Four brain surgeries later, the former star athlete struggles to carry on, while his parents fight for justice.

Robert J. Mongeluzzi, of SMBB, said the parents would discuss the horrific 2015 incident - in which no criminal charges were ever filed - while he outlines the legal strategy that includes a jury trial to hold the Fraternity and others accountable. "This is yet another tragic example of a fraternity that miserably failed to live up to its mission to provide " 'lifetime brotherhood'. Rather than doing the brotherly thing and calling 911, the victim was medically abandoned for hours with devastating consequences."

Details of the presser:

Time: 10:30 a.m. (Thursday, July 20, 2017)

Place: SMBB, 52nd Fl., 1650 Market St., One Liberty Place, Phila.,PA

Besides the parents, Mr. Mongeluzzi will be joined by colleagues Larry Bendesky and Adam Pantano, and attorney Steven Gitman. For legal reasons, the name of the victim is not being released until the news conference. Copies of all related legal documents would be provided at that time. SMBB has represented numerous clients whose sons were either killed or seriously injured as a result of fraternity-related violence and/or other offenses, including violations of liquor-liability laws (Dram Shop statutes), which contributed to either death or serious injury.
