E. Douglas DiSandro, Jr.

In law school, Doug was honored to be selected as a member of the Moe Levine Trial Advocacy Honor Society and the Widener Law Veterans Law Clinic. As a member of the Veterans Law Clinic, Doug provided counsel to retired military members who were denied benefits by the Department of Veterans Affairs. On multiple occasions, Doug successfully argued before Board of Veterans’ Appeals Judges on behalf of his clients in appellate proceedings, helping them gain access to much-needed benefits for their service-connected disabilities.

Since passing the bar, Doug has continued to dedicate himself to giving back to the community and fighting for the rights of others, having served as a volunteer attorney for the Veterans Law Clinic’s Philadelphia clients. He also performs pro bono work as a member of the Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent Program (V.I.P.), an organization that provides legal services free of charge to indigent clients in need of counsel in the Philadelphia area.

Since joining SMB, Doug has worked tirelessly to help achieve hundreds of millions of dollars of recoveries on behalf of his clients, including:

• $150+ million recovery in connection with a major transportation disaster;
• $24.1 million settlement in a construction fall case;
• $16.5 million settlement in a wrongful death case involving a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility;
• $16.5 million recovery for a child burned by scalding water;
• $12 million recovery for a construction worker that was crushed by a fallen trellis;
• $9.7 million settlement for worker injured in a product liability and construction accident case;
• $9 million settlement in a workplace accident case where a worker was crushed by a forklift;
• $7.75 million recovery for a construction worker that was struck by a motor vehicle on a construction project;
• $7 million settlement in a fall protection case;
• $5.75 million settlement in a workplace injury product liability case;
• $5 million settlement for failing to supervise and monitor a special needs woman who was injured while in the care of defendant.

Prior to pursuing his Juris Doctor, Doug earned his undergrad degree from St. Joseph’s University, graduating, with honors, in 2010. While at St. Joseph’s, Doug was a four-year Division I athlete, competing on the Varsity baseball team and earning the honor of being voted by his peers and coaches as a captain for the 2010 season. Doug arrived on Hawk Hill after graduating from St. Joseph’s Preparatory School in 2006.
